Metcalfe chasing hometown win at Adelaide ASX | News

South Australian rider Brett Metcalfe has his sights firmly set on winning in front of his home crowd as the fourth round of the Australian Supercross Championship, Adelaide this Saturday.

The penultimate round of the championship is set to fire on all cylinders as the race for the crown heats up and after a race-winning performance in Geelong last weekend, Metcalfe is confident of taking out the top prize in Port Adelaide.

“I’m excited, my expectations are just really to go in, have fun and win,” Metcalfe said.

“I’ll have friends and family there, I think the track is going to be awesome so really looking forward to this weekend.”

Metcalfe currently sits second in the SX1 Championship standings, a mere 9 points behind Penrite Honda teammate and reigning Australian Supercross Champion, Justin Brayton.
After winning his third consecutive event in Geelong last Saturday, Brayton is the rider to catch but will not be taking things lightly on his first trip to Gillman Speedway Stadium

“I’ve won three here (rounds in a row in Australia) before but never four so I’m setting out to do that, that’s kind of my goal now, as soon as I crossed the chequered flag I was like alright I wanna win four now, so that’s the goal,” Brayton said.

“Adelaide is his (Brett Metcalfe) home city, so I know he is going to have some extra, extra, fans up there rooting him on and probably have that little bit of extra energy to make it happen and get a win, so I’m expecting that, but I’ve just got to keep doing what I’m doing, it’s been working so far so hopefully I can carry that into Port Adelaide.”

This weekend’s event will see a return to the super popular Triple Crown, three race format, with all the action kicking off from 3 pm with a pit party and rider interactions.
Moving from the traditional twenty-lap endurance final, the Triple Crown format will introduce three shorter races, that is sure to add an undeniable element of excitement to the Port Adelaide fans.

If that’s not enough to get the heart pumping, visitors can expect to see 3 X World Speedway Champion Jason ‘Crumpy’ Crump do a one-off incredible Speedway demonstration that will have all fans on the edge of their seats. Crump will be bringing one of his special Speedway bikes and has told fans he’ll 110% on the gas to entertain the crowd.
