Pat Bowden plans to launch into orbit in FMX ‘Best Trick’ debut at 2017 AUS-X Open | News

Australian freestyle motocross young gun Pat Bowden will be making his Monster Energy AUS-X Open Sydney debut, lining up to compete for the FMX ‘Best Trick’ contest November 11 & 12.

The 24 year old Gold Coast native has been lighting things up on the European FMX scene the last few years, and says he’s pumped to finally be back on home turf with the chance to compete against some of the world’s best in the renowned contest.

“Since the AUS-X Open started I’ve wanted to compete there. It’s the biggest FMX competition in Australia by a long way. To do my thing in front a packed Qudos Bank Arena, which be an experience I’ll never forget I’m sure. I’m working on something big especially for this event – I’ll give it everything I’ve got to win gold!” Bowden said.

Bowden is the second big-name announcement for the Best Trick competition at this years event, with icon Robbie Maddison the first FMX rider confirmed so far to challenge for this year’s gold medal.

A clear force to be reckoned with, Bowden earlier this year took out third place in the FMX Best Trick competition at the 2017 Nitro World Games in Salt Lake City, Utah, landing an enormous Double-Grab/Hart/Rock Solid backflip trick. The stunt saw him completely part ways with his motorcycle mid backflip, only to grab hold of the seat with both hands and return prior to landing, by the barest of margins.

He also took out gold at the X Pilots in Tijuana in FMX and Best Whip, and is in sure contention for a podium at this year’s AUS-X Open.

In the world of FMX, the ‘Best-Trick’ contest means riders perform their hardest and most difficult stunts in a bid to capture gold medal glory, with the contests responsible for tricks such as the Double Backflip, numerous Backflip variations, Frontflip combinations, 360 and 540 spins along with the recent influx of body varials.

There will be plenty more big name stars plus further announcements to be released in the coming weeks.

The 2017 Monster Energy AUS-X Open Sydney incorporates rounds four and five of the Australian Supercross Championship and is one of the largest Supercross, FMX and action sports events in the world.

Featuring 2 x World Champion – Chad Reed, current World Number 4 – Jason Anderson, 4 x World Champion and the greatest of all time – Ricky Carmichael, motorcycle stuntman and Freestyle Motocross icon – Robbie Maddison, plus many more of the world’s best on two wheels.

This year one million dollars is up for grabs to any fan who purchases tickets to both days of the event on November 11 and 12. The revolutionary prize allows fans to watch Saturday’s event results, before making their top twelve picks for Sunday, giving them a very strong second chance at $500,000.
