Honda rider Tim Gajser put together a flawless performance on his way to claiming the MXGP overall while Herlings continued his dominance of the MX2 class with another 1-1 scorecard.

In the MXGP Race 1, Honda’s Evgeny Bobryshev led for most the race but on lap 12 of 17 he handed over the lead to fellow Honda rider, Tim Gajser who would gap the rest of the field and claim the Race 1 victory. KTM rider Toni Cairoli was at the pointy end of the field for most the race, having grabbed the holeshot, and would finish second. Yamaha rider, Valentin Guillod, who led the opening lap momentarily rounded out the top three.

For Race 2 of the MXGP class the rain started to fall and the track conditions deteriorated as the 450 machines made their way around the Matterley Basin circuit.

Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Max Nagl claimed the holeshot after a great start. Gajser slowly closed in the Husqvarna rider and eventually would take over the lead and hold the position for the remainder of the race. It was Gajser’s third double-moto win for 2016.

Nagl would hold onto second place ahead of Gautier Paulin in third.

Chad Reed placed inside the top 20 in both motos, finishing 17th in Race 1 and 14th in Race 2.
