2013 Yamaha YZ85 | Reader's Ride

I started riding motorbikes when I was two. I had a Yamaha PW50 before upgrading to a KTM 65SX.

WHY DID YOU BUY IT?
I started riding motorbikes when I was two. I had a Yamaha PW50 before upgrading to a KTM 65SX. While my KTM was an awesome bike, I found my Yamaaha to be more reliable. When it was time to upgrade, my mum and I were keen to buy a Yamaha again. I got the big-wheel YZ85 and have never looked back.

WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO IT?
I haven’t done anything major. It is great in stock trim. I’ve just added a few aftermarket bits and pieces like a bigger sprocket, Full Perch footpegs, Renthal Fatbar handlebar, spoke coats, unbreakable levers, a sticker kit and rim coats.

HOW DOES IT GO?
The bike is awesome. Whether I am on a motocross track or thrashing through the bush trails, it’s been awesome and never lets me down. My motocross track is sand as I live on the coast, but I often travel inland to ride on a number of different surfaces and the YZ loves it.

WOULD YOU RECOMMEND IT?
Hell yes! It has been a sick bike. It’s great for on and off the motocross track. When I’m looking for a 125, I’ll be looking for another YZ. A lot of my mates have other bikes but they all wish they had mine!

5 THINGS YOU DIDN’T KNOW ABOUT ANTHONY AND HIS YZ85
1 The YZ is four years old and has never broken down.
2 Anthony loves anything with wheels, preferably two.
3 He has a motocross track in his backyard thanks to his uncle, Casey.
4 His idols are Travis Pastrana and his uncle.
5 This year he is getting a 125 so, unfortunately, he’s selling his trick YZ85.
