2021 Four-Stroke Updates and Highlights

– Connecting rod bottom-end bearing has been changed to a plain bearing to improve engine life (250/300)
– Tilt sensor (motorcycle engine shuts off in the event of a fall)
– New connecting rod, which reduces low-speed stalling
– Revised machining of the engine cases: Optimized for the new connecting rod, which reduces low-speed stalling. It also reduces the overheating of the engine oil. The lubricant has better circulation inside the engine. (250/300)
– The balancer is the same as 2020 but with a smaller axis (250/300)
– Compression lowered (250/300)
– New intake and exhaust camshaft profile (250/300)
– Sprockets of the anti-vibration balancer lightened (450/500)
– Starter inner pinion has been lightened (450/500)
– Oil pump gear has been lightened (450/500)
– New 2021 Racing graphics kit Inmold
– New Brake Spring: Larger diameter spring to improve pedal return

2021 Sherco Factory-Specific Updates

– New full Titanium Akrapovic exhaust pipe: The latest version of the Akrapovic exhaust system in titanium which increases the performance at high RPM and maximizes the engine power. It also reduces noise for sound level meter check.
– Engine maps revised for new exhaust and connecting rod
– GALFER front disc brake: Lighter by 70 grams
– NEW Soft dual-compound grips

2021 Sherco Two-Stroke

The French manufacturer has focused on extracting the most performance and useability from its existing enduro platform for 2021. The smallest of the range, the 125 SE, receives a new crankshaft assembly which Sherco has designed to increase reliability and engine life. A new counter-balance has been fitted to the 250 and 300 SE engines aimed at reducing vibrations and improving rider comfort. The 250 and 300 also boast a new gearbox and selector mechanism with new ratios. First gear is now more usable in technical terrain. The entire assembly is now also lighter by 600 grams while total engine weight is down 1.2kg from last year.

A lower compression cylinder head has been fitted to the 250 and 300 SE which allows higher rpms and the ignition maps have been updated and there is a new ignition coil control unit. Two selectable maps result in 5.5bhp power difference.

2021 Sherco Four-Stroke

A new connecting rod has been used in the 250 and 300 engines to reduce the likelihood of low-speed engine flameouts. The bottom-end connecting rod bearing has also been changed in the 250 and 300 four-stroke engines. Sherco says the new bearing, which is a plain type bearing, will improve engine life. There is a tilt sensor that shuts off the engine in the event of a crash and the engine cases have been revised to reduce overheating engine oil and promote better flow of lubricant.

250 and 300 engine compression has been reduced and there are new intake and exhaust camshaft profiles.

In the 450 and 500, the anti-vibration balancer sprockets, starting pinion, and oil pump gear have all gone on a diet.

Total weight savings isn’t clear because Sherco has not provided weights for the 2021 range yet.
