Discover the thrill of Far North Queensland with Savannah Motorcycle Tours, where two Cairns locals guide you through the region’s most breathtaking landscapes and hidden gems. Their all-inclusive tours cater to small groups, offering a variety of adventures on Honda Transalps with comfortable accommodation, great meals and no crowds.

Andrew Porta is a Cairns local and the owner of Portas Bikes and Power, a motorcycle and power equipment shop in Cairns. Growing up on a cane farm and cattle property, Andrew has always loved motorcycles. From riding to working on them, he enjoys it all. He has competed in events like the Finke Desert Race and has a Queensland offroad enduro title in the Clubman class, as well as local races and pony express events.

Eric, on the other hand, has spent a lifetime being passionate about all things motorcycles. He started riding dirtbikes at age four around Cairns before moving to Brisbane in his teens. Eric has competed in the Australian Supercross Championship, North Queensland Championship, and Queensland Road Racing.

You can bring your own bike on a Savannah tour, however you’ll be responsible for any repairs, maintenance and getting the bike home if you run into issues. Savannah Motorcycle Tours uses Honda XL750 Transalps and has a few Honda CRF300 Rally bikes available for L-plate riders. Their bikes are meticulously maintained and suited for the riding conditions, but they can’t carry spare parts for other brands. The bikes provided are roadworthy and perfect for the rugged terrains you’ll explore.

Riders must have a current and valid motorcycle licence. A learner’s motorcycle licence is acceptable. As long as you have some off-road experience, you’ll be fine. None of the riding situations are extreme, and the team is always there to help if you’re unsure or having any trouble. Savannah Motorcycle Tours also offers pre-ride coaching and training to boost your confidence and skills before the tour.

Tours begin and end at Portas Bikes and Power, located at 33 Anderson St, Manunda, Queensland. On tour, you only need to bring money for souvenirs, alcoholic beverages and entertainment. All food (home-style country meals served in iconic pubs and locations), accommodation, fuel, park fees, permits and non-alcoholic beverages are included, and a dedicated support vehicle carries your gear and ensures essentials are always within reach.
