    • Now includes speedometer, bar-type tachometer, clock, odometer, dual trip meters, and full warning/indicator suite (fuel, coolant temp, high beam, neutral, turn signals).

  • New Ignition Lock

    • Upgraded to a five-tumbler design (previously three).

    • Provides better theft resistance.

  • Revised Rear Fender

    • Inspired by Kawasaki KX motocrossers.

    • Longer colour sections create an elongated silhouette.

    • Continues to effectively shield the rider from water and mud.

Engine and Performance

The 2026 KLX300 is powered by a 292cc, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected DOHC single-cylinder. With a bore and stroke of 78.0 x 61.2 mm and an 11.1:1 compression ratio, the motor is designed to deliver usable torque in the low to mid-range before spinning freely into a strong top-end.

Cam profiles are borrowed from the KLX300R off-road model, enhancing throttle response at higher revs. Complementing this, the ø34 mm throttle body with sub-throttle valve ensures smooth fueling and mid-to-high rpm performance. The engine also benefits from an electrofusion-coated cylinder, which reduces weight, improves heat transfer, and increases durability by resisting abrasion and seizure.

To boost rider comfort, a gear-driven engine balancer smooths vibrations across the rev range, while dual radiators and Kawasaki’s innovative fan cover system manage heat by directing hot air away from the rider. An electric start comes standard, and emissions are kept clean thanks to a honeycomb catalyser and secondary air system.

Transmission and Control

The engine pairs with a six-speed transmission tuned for both road and trail. Gear ratios are chosen for flexibility, making it easy to crawl over obstacles or cruise comfortably on open roads. A lightweight piston, connecting rod, and shim-under-tappet valve system help the engine spin up quickly while maintaining efficiency at high rpm.

Chassis and Handling

At the core of the KLX300 is a box- and tubular-section high-tensile steel perimeter frame, delivering both strength and agility. The frame geometry, with a 26.7° caster angle and short wheelbase, contributes to quick steering response without compromising straight-line stability. At the rear, a lightweight aluminium D-section swingarm reduces unsprung weight and further improves handling precision.

Suspension is enduro-derived. Up front, a fully adjustable ø43 mm inverted cartridge-style fork with compression damping adjustability provides consistent damping and resistance to oil aeration. Fork guards and seals protect against rocks and dust. Out back, the Uni Trak gas-charged shock features a remote reservoir with adjustable preload, rebound, and compression damping. Together, the long-travel suspension delivers excellent bump absorption and off-road confidence.

Braking and Wheels

Stopping power comes from petal-style disc brakes—a 250 mm front rotor with twin-piston caliper and a 240 mm rear disc with single-piston caliper. The petal design aids heat dissipation for consistent braking under load.

True to its dual-sport nature, the KLX300 is equipped with a 21-inch front wheel and 18-inch rear, fitted with off-road capable tyres. The spoked wheel design balances rigidity with durability for rough terrain.

Ergonomics and Comfort

The relaxed, upright riding position is supported by a thick urethane seat designed for longer journeys. With a seat height of 935 mm and narrow shrouds, riders can comfortably reach the ground despite the long-travel suspension. The footpegs are positioned close to the bike’s centreline, creating a slim profile that aids control both seated and standing.

New KX-style shrouds are slimmer and longer than before, reducing interference with rider movement and making it easier to transition between sitting and standing on technical terrain. A new two-tone seat cover and slimmer side panelscontribute to the sporty, compact look.

Lighting, Styling, and Tech

A compact LED headlight housed in a sharp new cowl provides excellent brightness while reducing bulk. Stacked dual LEDs (low and high beam) give a modern appearance while boosting visibility in low-light conditions. The design is carried through with a sharp rear fender, compact LED taillight, and a bodywork flow inspired by Kawasaki’s KX motocross range.

Instrumentation is fully digital, featuring a bar-type tachometer, speedometer, dual trip meters, odometer, clock, fuel gauge, and warning lamps. For added security, Kawasaki has upgraded the ignition lock with a five-tumbler design.
