Jett Lawrence takes home the silverware as 10th anniversary AUSX Open delivers a night for the ages

Melbourne turned it on for the 10th anniversary Boost Mobile AUSX Open presented by Monster Energy, with a packed Marvel Stadium witnessing Jett Lawrence finally tick off the last box on his Australian racing bucket list. Despite all his global success, the AUSX Open trophy had somehow eluded him—until now.

Racing on home soil for the first time since locking away a third straight SuperMotocross World Championship and helping secure Australia’s second consecutive Motocross of Nations crown, Jett put on a clinical SX1 display. He stayed clear of the carnage that destroyed his chances last year and delivered the win the crowd had been waiting for.

He couldn’t hide what the moment meant.

“To finally get it on my third attempt was unreal. I’m super stoked to do it in front of the Aussie crowd — I’ve been here three times and hadn’t been able to get a win until now. Third time’s the charm, thankfully. The atmosphere was electric, and it honestly made the night feel really special. These are the kind of core memories I’ll carry through my whole career. It was an awesome.”

Marvel Stadium was rebuilt into a dirt-filled arena with 6,500 tonnes of soil shaping what organisers say is the biggest supercross track anywhere outside the USA.

Wilson Steady in Second, Hunter Claws Back to the Podium in SX1

Dean Wilson put together a textbook ride, staying out of the mayhem to secure second on the night and tighten his grip on the SX1 points lead heading into the decider. Hunter Lawrence, the reigning AUSX Open champ, fought through the pack to salvage third, giving local fans flashes of the fight that has defined his season.

SX1 featured a stacked line-up including Cédric Soubeyras, Phil Nicoletti, Luke Clout, Aaron Tanti, Dylan Walsh, Matt Moss and Hayden Mellross.

Thompson Takes Down McElrath in SX2

The return of defending SX2 champ Shane McElrath was big news heading into the weekend, but it was Cole Thompson who stole the spotlight. A win in the opening final and a third in the second handed Thompson the overall ahead of McElrath and Ryder Kingsford, stamping him as a legitimate threat heading into the last round.

Lux Turner, who had shown strong form leading in, crashed during qualifying and was sidelined with a wrist injury.

Malinoski Runs the Table in SX3

Ryder Malinoski owned the SX3 final from the drop of the gate, never giving anyone else a look-in. Jack Deveson and Koby Hantis completed the podium after a chaotic race behind the leader.

Fans were also treated to rising talent in the 85cc ranks, the Yamaha 65cc Cup, plus FMX action, live music and plenty of stadium fanfare throughout the night.

A Nation’s Champions Honoured Under Stadium Lights

One of the standout scenes came when Marvel Stadium lit up with phone torches as fans celebrated Australia’s MXoN heroes—Jett Lawrence, Hunter Lawrence and Kyle Webster. Wearing their MXoN greens and golds, the trio took a special lap of honour and were met with a massive ovation, acknowledging their historic back-to-back world triumph.

Event Director Kelly Bailey summed up the moment: “Their success on the world stage inspires the next generation. We set out to deliver a world-class event for the 10-year milestone — and tonight exceeded every expectation.”

All Roads Lead to Adelaide

The 2025 Boost Mobile AUSX Supercross Championship now heads to its grand finale next weekend, with the BP Adelaide Grand Final set to wrap up the series under Saturday night lights in South Australia.
