Every now and then a product lands that makes you stop mid-ride and go, “Yep, this one’s a keeper.” That’s exactly what happened with the Leatt Moto 8.5 Helmet Kit – and I’m calling it early: this is one of the most comfortable helmets I’ve ever worn. From the moment it slid onto my head, it felt good. The opening is perfect—not too tight, not too loose—and the snug fit doesn’t come at the expense of comfort. The inner padding is ultra-soft and contours perfectly to my head, with Leatt’s Pro-Fit liner doing a bloody good job of modulating fit across different noggin shapes. I also hardly sweat in it—even on slow-speed, technical rides where ventilation is usually a problem.
Vision is wide and unobstructed, and while comfort alone would be enough to win me over, the safety tech in this lid is equally impressive. Leatt’s 360º Turbine Technology is designed to reduce both low-speed rotational forces and peak brain acceleration – exactly the kind of science-backed protection you want when things go pear-shaped. The composite shell is lightweight (weighing in at just 1,250g ± 50g), ECE 22.06 and DOT-certified, and comes in three shell sizes with four densities of impact foam strategically positioned to absorb energy during a crash. Even the visor has a breakaway function, designed to reduce rotational forces on the neck. It even has a visor extension for those sunny days,.

And that’s just the helmet—we haven’t even mentioned the bonus Velocity 5.5 goggles that come included in the kit and the price. Designed to integrate perfectly with the 8.5, they offer solid eye protection and comfort, completing what Leatt calls a full protection system for the head, brain, and eyes.
So far, we can’t fault it. It’s lightweight, ultra-comfy, seriously safe, and looks sharp doing it. This one’s going to be hard to beat. I’ll keep at it.
