The final round of the 2026 Australian ProMX Championship at Queensland Moto Park (QMP) saw KTM Racing Team’s Dylan Walsh place P3 overall to seal third in the final MX2 standings, with teammate Byron Dennis completing the season directly behind him in fourth position.
In his first full season of Australian motocross, Walsh entered the final round looking to build on the form that earned him second overall at Conondale. He guided his KTM 250 SX-F to third on the qualifying timesheets, setting the stage for Sunday’s final showdown.
A strong start and second place in Moto 1 was followed by a fifth-place finish in race two, with Walsh’s 2-5 scorecard earning him third overall for the round and in the final MX2 standings. He recorded five overall podium finishes throughout the season, proving a formidable force in the 250 cc division.
Dylan Walsh: “I’ve not ridden a track like that in a long time! It’s not that it’s really rough – it’s just skatey – so I think I need to go to a few more public tracks during the week and get on those kinds of conditions. But it was a decent weekend, a good first race and average second moto, but we had a crack and finished on the podium again for the round and series – a massive thank you to KTM Racing Team and everybody behind us this season. I’m looking forward to taking all that we learned into the off-season and making more gains into the future.”
Also equipped with the KTM 250 SX-F, Dennis claimed pole position in the MX2 category on Saturday with a 1:51.083 lap-time, entering Sunday’s motos READY TO RACE as he sat equal third with Walsh in the championship.
Crashes ultimately limited the 19-year-old to 8-9 moto finishes for ninth overall, ultimately claiming fourth in the final standings. Dennis achieved four podium finishes throughout the 2026 season, marking another step forward in his third year as a professional.
Byron Dennis: “It was just one of those days today, I suppose. I felt good yesterday and this morning, as well as during the races too, but just silly little mistakes cost you a lot around here. So, yeah, two crashes out of the two motos, and I’m pretty disappointed with the day, but all in all, we had a solid championship this year and I’m grateful for everybody at KTM Racing Team for what has been a big effort together.”
On board the KTM 450 SX-F in MX1, Zac Watson clocked the seventh-fastest time in the Pole Shootout before converting a strong start into sixth place in Moto 1. A first-turn incident made for a difficult second encounter, as he charged from last to eighth to earn sixth overall for the weekend.
In his first season with KTM Racing Team, Watson displayed impressive consistency throughout the eight-round campaign, finishing inside the top-10 at seven of the eight rounds, highlighted by a season-best fifth overall at Appin.
Zac Watson: “The final round was not too bad of a weekend. I qualified seventh, and then in the first moto I had a good start, and managed to run fifth for most of that one until my arms got tight, so we finished sixth. Moto 2 was a bit of a shocker with a first-turn crash – I ended up coming from last to eighth. Sixth overall for the weekend and the championship is not terrible, but we were chasing a little more.”
KTM Racing Team-supported MX3 rider Jackson Fuller finished seventh overall at the season finale, capping off the 2026 championship in an encouraging fifth place overall aboard his KTM 250 SX-F.
