Well, finally some half-decent weather and a chance to just get an hour or two on the bike going for a trail ride. I’m just starting to get some bike time in again. The sand tyre is gone for the moment and I’ve got a fresh Dunlop AT82 back on, which I picked up from Newcastle Powersports.
The bike itself is up to around 35 hours now and I’ve just done another oil change and service. While the oil filter is in an odd spot, it’s still pretty easy to change, and the air filters are definitely some of the easiest of any bike on the market.
It’s still running perfectly, starting with ease and hasn’t presented any problems at all so far. I’m probably due for some new ODI grips and a new chain, mainly due to the sand riding over the last month or so, and I’ll replace those before Kempsey.
The sprockets are still in great shape and the brake pads still have over half their life left. The clutch has also been a surprise on this bike and has shown no signs of fading, but in saying that, I’m not one to swing off a clutch much either. All in all, it’s just been servicing and general maintenance so far.
My aim was to get some solid trail riding under my belt over the next few weeks and log some bike time. I have no plans to change anything bike-related now. I just want to keep everything familiar and ride out the AEC season.

The funny thing is, you never know what you might get thrown into at an AEC event, so it definitely prompts me to practise everything from logs to rocks and some pretty deep ruts. I definitely feel like we got our mud-hole practice out of the way for the year at Casterton though!
That’s it for me for now. I’m still enjoying riding this bike more than I thought I would, especially coming from some bigger-capacity bikes over the last few years. In all honesty, should more people ride mid- and smaller-capacity bikes? Maybe, but that’s a debate for another time! Haha, peace out!
