KTM has unveiled the 2027 KTM 690 RALLY, a new long-range single-cylinder model based on the 690 ENDURO R and described by KTM as the spiritual successor to the 640 ADVENTURE of the early 2000s.
Rather than requiring owners to fit an aftermarket rally kit, the 690 RALLY packages the extra fuel capacity, rally tower, wind protection and associated mounting hardware into a factory-built motorcycle.

The most obvious change from the 690 ENDURO R is at the front. The 690 RALLY receives an all-new rally tower with a headlight unit derived from the KTM 450 RALLY, along with a windshield and two additional front fuel tanks.
Those tanks add seven litres of capacity, taking total fuel capacity to 20 litres. A dedicated fuel-management system allows the rider to switch between the front and rear tanks using a handlebar-mounted switch, with the reserve warning corresponding only to the tank currently selected.
KTM has also incorporated dedicated mounting points into the motorcycle for the front tanks and rally tower rather than relying on an aftermarket mounting system.

A tool pouch mounting position sits behind the right-side tank fairing and radiator, allowing access without removing the seat or bodywork while keeping the tools tucked away from branches and other potential snagging hazards.
Underneath the rally equipment is the current-generation 690 ENDURO R platform. The frame is largely unchanged, although additional mounting points have been incorporated for the rally hardware. It also carries over the latest 690 ENDURO R chassis updates, including revised frame stiffness characteristics.
Suspension consists of a 48mm WP XPLOR split-function fork, with compression damping controlled through the left fork leg and rebound through the right. Both offer 30 clicks of adjustment from the top of the fork.
At the rear is a fully adjustable WP XPLOR shock, with rebound, high- and low-speed compression damping and preload adjustment. Rear-wheel travel is 250mm through an off-road linkage system.
Power comes from the latest 692.7cc LC4 single-cylinder four-stroke, producing a claimed 58.1kW (79PS) at 8000rpm and 73Nm at 6750rpm. The latest engine incorporates a redesigned crankcase, revised oil system, intake, airbox and fuel system and meets EURO 5+ requirements.

It is paired with a six-speed transmission, Keihin EFI with a 50mm throttle body, ride-by-wire and a hydraulically operated PASC slipper clutch.
Electronics are also carried across from the latest 690 ENDURO R architecture. The RALLY gets a 4.2-inch TFT display, four-way switchgear and Street, Off-road and Rally ride modes.
Cornering Motorcycle Traction Control and cornering ABS use data from a 6D sensor, while both MTC and ABS can be switched off completely. A dedicated ABS-off button is positioned for easier access while riding off-road.
Dynamic Slip Adjust is available in Rally mode and automatically allows additional rear-wheel slip when the system determines more traction is required, before returning to the rider’s original setting when conditions change.
KTMconnect provides smartphone connectivity for turn-by-turn navigation, music and phone functions through the TFT. There’s also a USB-C charging port and 12V socket, while cruise control will be available as an option.
Service intervals are listed at 15,000km for oil changes and 30,000km for valve-clearance checks.
