AUSSIE UPDATE: MXGP of Great Britain | News

Australia was well represented at the second round of the FIM Motocross World Championship, MXGP of Great Britain, here is a rundown of the Aussies results.

EMX250
Caleb Grotheus finished 12th overall in the EMX250 class with a 10th in Race 1 and 15th in Race 2.

MXGP
In the MXGP class, Dean Ferris placed 15th in Race 1 after qualifying 18th but crashed in the first turn of Race 2 and was unable to continue riding. His final result was 21st overall.

Ferris fears he could have suffered a knee injury from the crash and will undergo further testing. “It was a tough weekend, but I got more comfortable in every session. I thought the last fifteen minutes of the race I found my groove and had some really good lap-times, so I was content with that. In moto two, I went down on the start and I have hurt my knee, so that will need to be assessed.”

MX2
MX2 riders Mitch Evans (Honda) and Jed Beaton (Husqvarna) started off the weekend with impressive qualifying results – Evans fourth and Beaton 13th, and the pair went on to record solid overall results. Evans placed 34th in Race 1 after a small crashed forced him to stop and fix his clutch. Beaton, fresh back from injury, placed higher up the order in ninth. In Race 2, Evans put in a strong ride to place eighth and Beaton finished 13th giving them overall results of 15th and 10th, respectively.

Dylan Walsh (Husqvarna) of New Zealand put himself at the pointy end of the field, finishing 10th in both races and eighth overall.
