Reed injured in Seattle crash | News

JGR Suzuki rider Chad Reed was involved in a heavy crash on the opening lap of the Seattle Supercross Main Event which has left him with eight broken ribs, a broken scapula and a collapsed lung.

Reed started the night strong after he qualified seventh and placed fifth in his heat race at Round 12 of the AMA Supercross Championship in Seattle, putting him in a great position for the Main Event.

Shortly after the start of the main as the field entered the rhythm section, Reed’s Suzuki was kicked sideways which sent him across the track into the line of several competitors. He made contact with Honda’s Justin Brayton and Yamaha’s Ryan Breece and bailed off the back of his RM-Z450. Reed was then landed on by Kyle Chisholm (Suzuki), who also crashed.

The impact broke eight of Reed’s ribs, his scapula and left him with a collapsed lung and with only five rounds left in the championship, Reed says that’s his season done. Brayton has also confirmed he suffered a possible torn MCL/ACL in his left knee. More details to come.
