Chad Reed ninth at Anaheim 1 | Archive | News

Chad Reed finished ninth place in the 450SX Main Event at the opening round of the 2019 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship at Anaheim 1.

Reed had a shaky start to the night, qualifying 17th then placing 10th in his heat race, missing out on a transfer spot. However, in the Last Chance Qualifier the JGR Suzuki rider found another gear and steered his RM-Z450 to a second place finish, earning a ticket to the main.

Rain poured down on the Angel Stadium track for the Main Event and when the gate dropped Reed found himself in 17th. He worked his way up to ninth, passing defending champion Rockstar Energy Drink Husqvarna’s Jason Anderson in the process, and would hold down a top-10 position all the way to the finish.

Following the race, Reed took to social media to reflect on his performance. “Wasn’t a pretty start to my 18th consecutive A1 (a new record). My 205th career top 10, More top 10’s than anyone else even has starts (except LaRocco and Windham).”
