Simford Group Motorsport Husqvarna rider Billy Hargy claimed his first E3 class win on Sunday at Queensland Moto Park (QMP), capping off rounds seven and eight of the 2024 Australian Off-Road Championship (AORC).
The young rookie was able to overcome challenging, dry conditions and an assortment of terrains over the two days of enduro action, claiming Sunday’s victory in class by 14.6s.

Aboard his Husqvarna FE 501, it took Hargy several stages to settle into race pace on Saturday. Once it all clicked together he was able to make a big charge forward, ultimately finishing four seconds behind the winner.

Sunday’s stages proved to be a brutal mix of deep dust, ruts and rocks that tested the mettle of every rider in the paddock. Hargy was the class of the E3 field in round eight and powered through to take his first win since stepping up from the EJ class this season.

Billy Hargy: “The tracks were absolutely brutal this weekend and by Sunday afternoon it felt like we were ploughing through deep talcum-powder dust ruts, into big braking bumps, into technical rock sections. I’ve got tracks at home that are similar, but not to the extent we faced at QMP. I went into the weekend really wanting to win, but I just fell short on Saturday. Getting my first E3 win on Sunday was massive, though. It’s good to prove it can be done and I knew it would happen eventually, but didn’t exactly know when.”
