Jett Lawrence finishes third at Salt Lake City 5 | News

GEICO Honda's Jett Lawrence has scored his first AMA Supercross 250SX Main Event podium result with his third-place finish at Round 15 in Salt Lake City

The 16-year-old started the day strong when he qualified second fastest to defending 250SX West champion Dylan Ferrandis. In his heat race, Jett pulled an incredible start and was two bike lengths ahead coming into the first turn but ran wide and crashed, with a little help from Austin Forkner. The Honda rider climbed back to finish sixth behind Penrite Honda’s Luke Clout in fifth and older brother, Hunter, in third.

When the gate dropped for the 250SX West Main Event and the pack rounded the first turn Jett found himself outside the top-10. The Queenslander then put on a charge through the field, passing his older brother for fifth place with eight minutes remaining.

From there Jett didn’t let off and would pass Michael Mosiman and Cameron Mcadoo to secure his first AMA SX Main Event podium.

Hunter finished seventh and Luke Clout 11th. Victorian Geran Stapleton won the LCQ to secure his spot in the Main Event where he finished 20th.
