JULIEN BEAUMER CLAIMS FIRST-CAREER 250MX VICTORY

Red Bull KTM Factory Racing rider Julien Beaumer has claimed the first overall victory of his AMA Pro Motocross career, taking out round seven of the 2026 championship at Spring Creek in Minnesota.

The 20-year-old delivered a breakthrough performance aboard his KTM 250 SX-F Factory Edition, finishing 1-4 across the two motos to edge out the competition and vault into second place in the 250MX championship.

After qualifying sixth, Beaumer avoided a first-lap pile-up in the opening moto before carving his way through the field. Chasing down a six-second deficit to the race leader, he made a dramatic last-lap pass to secure his first-ever Pro Motocross moto victory.

A fourth-place finish in Moto 2 proved enough to seal the overall, capping an emotional comeback after recovering from the serious back injury that threatened his career less than 12 months ago.

“Laying in that hospital bed last year, I thought maybe my career was over,” Beaumer said. “To come back and get my first 250MX overall is unreal. It wasn’t the prettiest second moto, but we’ve been working really hard as a team and finally got the win.”

The result moves Beaumer into second in the championship as the series heads to Washougal next weekend.

In the premier 450MX class, Jorge Prado endured a frustrating opening moto before salvaging another strong overall result.

The four-time world champion qualified fifth before being forced off the track in the opening turn of Moto 1. Prado recovered from well down the order to finish 13th before rebounding with a strong ride to third in Moto 2.

His 13-3 scorecard earned sixth overall and keeps the Spaniard fourth in the championship standings despite battling illness throughout the week.

“Today was a hard day,” Prado said. “I got pushed wide in the first corner of Moto 1 and had a lot of riders to pass. I’ve also been sick all week, so I was pushing myself a lot. Third in Moto 2 was a good improvement and we’ll keep building from here.”

The weekend also marked the long-awaited return of four-time Pro Motocross champion Eli Tomac.

Making his first full race appearance since injuring himself at the opening round of the season, Tomac qualified seventh before recording 9-12 finishes for 11th overall aboard the KTM 450 SX-F Factory Edition.

“It’s good to get my first full Pro Motocross race weekend of the season done,” Tomac said. “There’s still plenty to improve, but we’ll do some testing this week and come back stronger at Washougal.”

The 2026 AMA Pro Motocross Championship now heads west to Washougal, Washington, for round eight on July 25, with Beaumer carrying career-best momentum after finally breaking through for his maiden outdoor overall victory.
