Penrite Racing Empire Kawasaki is excited to announce the signing of Dutch motocross talent Rick Elzinga, who will join the team for the 2027 Australian ProMX Championship, competing in the premier MX1 class.
The signing marks an exciting new chapter for both Elzinga and Penrite Racing Empire Kawasaki, with the European rider set to make the move Down Under and take on Australia’s premier motocross competition.
A former EMX250 European Champion with experience competing on the world stage, Elzinga brings international experience, speed and determination to the Kawasaki outfit as the team prepares for its 2027 campaign.
For Elzinga, the opportunity represents a new adventure and a chance to test himself against Australia’s best riders.
“I’m feeling adventurous! It’s obviously a big step coming all the way to Australia to race, but I’m confident in the team and the people around me to make me feel at home,” Elzinga said.
“I’ve been to Australia twice before and absolutely loved spending my time there!”
Despite stepping into a championship featuring several unfamiliar competitors, Elzinga is arriving with clear ambitions and a determination to establish himself at the front of the MX1 field.
“My expectations are to fight for podiums and wins during the motocross season. It’s hard to compare myself to the other riders as I haven’t raced many of them, but I’m confident I’ll shake things up and make it happen when it matters most.”
Penrite Racing Empire Kawasaki Team Owner Tyson Cherry expressed his excitement about the signing, highlighting the significance of bringing an international rider to Australia for the team’s motocross program.
“I’m really excited about bringing Rick Elzinga out to Australia to join Penrite Racing Empire Kawasaki for 2027. We’ve never brought an international rider over for motocross before, so this is something new and exciting for the team,” Cherry said.
“Rick has already shown some incredible speed throughout his career, winning championships and putting in some impressive performances in MXGP. He’s still young, has plenty of potential, and I think he’ll be a great fit for our team.
“We’re really looking forward to getting to work with Rick and seeing what we can achieve together in 2027.”
The addition of Elzinga reinforces Penrite Racing Empire Kawasaki’s commitment to competing at the highest level of Australian motocross, bringing international experience and fresh energy to the team’s MX1 program.
With preparations for the upcoming season already taking shape, the team looks forward to welcoming Elzinga to Australia and seeing what the Dutch rider can achieve aboard the Kawasaki KX450.
Further announcements regarding the team’s 2027 racing program will be made in due course.
