The 2025 Penrite ProMX Championship presented by AMX Superstores (ProMX) is adding a shade of green, with Kawasaki Australia to become the new naming rights partner of the MX1 class in ProMX.
Just days after announcing a major commitment to the 2025 Australian Superbike Championship, Kawasaki Australia has now followed suit in the motocross paddock as it doubles down on its support of Australia’s major motorcycle racing championships.
Kawasaki and motocross have enjoyed a celebrated history, with its first machine – an improvised version of a 125cc road bike manufactured by the company’s aircraft division – making its competition debut in 1961, but it wasn’t until a decade later that it really began to get serious thanks to the building purpose-built KX125 and KX250 two-strokes.
The duo went into production in 1973, and it wasn’t long before Kawasaki began flying high – the addition of the less-than-subtle KX500 helping the cause!
Kawasaki soon won major championships around the globe, including in Australia with a factory-team fielding Trevor Williams and the late Anthony Gunter. |
