Improved suspension, roomier ergonomics and two displacement options for mean, green Superminis

Kawasaki has rolled out significant updates to its KX Supermini line-up for 2026, with revisions aimed squarely at young racers progressing through one of motocross’ most competitive classes.

Drawing on decades of success under the Team Green banner, the updated KX85, KX85 L and KX112 continue Kawasaki’s long-standing focus on developing junior talent, with a mix of proven engines and meaningful chassis and ergonomic improvements.

At the heart of the range are two engine options — 84 cc and 112 cc — allowing riders to choose a platform that best suits their size, experience and class eligibility. The KX85 and KX85 L use the 84 cc engine, with different wheel sizes to accommodate a broader range of riders, while the KX112 offers increased capacity for those ready to step up.

For 2026, all models benefit from a revised rider triangle, featuring a roomier cockpit, wider handlebars and increased ERGO-FIT adjustability. Kawasaki has also fitted a number of high-grade, big-bike-style ergonomic components, aimed at improving rider comfort and control during longer motos.

Chassis updates are a major focus of the new models. Suspension duties are handled by a highly rigid, fully adjustable 43 mm inverted front fork, paired with Kawasaki’s Uni Trak rear suspension system. Adjustability has been increased across the range, while the KX112 and KX85 L gain rear wheel travel comparable to full-size KX motocross bikes. The KYB inverted fork is designed to deliver improved damping performance and resistance to bottoming, helping young riders maintain higher speeds with greater confidence.

Engine performance remains a strong point. Both the 84 cc and 112 cc platforms are engineered to deliver usable power throughout the rev range, backed up by strong top-end performance. The KX112, in particular, is tuned to produce increased low-end torque, making it easier to get off the line and drive out of corners in a variety of track conditions.

Aside from differences in bore and stroke, the KX85, KX85 L and KX112 share the same engine and transmission architecture, a design approach intended to maintain consistent performance and proven reliability across the range.

In terms of availability, the KX112 and KX85 L are due to arrive in dealerships in late February, with the KX85 scheduled for mid-2026. Pricing will be announced closer to each model’s on-sale date.
