FIM MX2 World Champion Simon Laengenfelder will line up with Red Bull KTM Factory Racing in 2026, campaigning the KTM 250 SX-F out of the Austrian squad’s setup alongside Andrea Adamo.

The 21-year-old German makes the switch from the Rome-based De Carli arm of the factory structure for what will be his sixth full Grand Prix season on Austrian machinery. The move positions Laengenfelder to chase Red Bull KTM’s first back-to-back MX2 title since 2019 under the guidance of Team Manager Joel Smets. He will be the team’s sole MX2 entrant, with Adamo stepping up to MXGP on the KTM 450 SX-F.

Laengenfelder delivered his first MX2 world crown this year—also Red Bull KTM’s sixteenth in the class—on the back of six Grand Prix victories and 12 podiums across 20 rounds.

Meanwhile, Red Bull KTM Factory Racing De Carli will continue to focus on the progression of Belgian twins Lucas and Sacha Coenen in MXGP and MX2 respectively.

What it means for Aussie and Kiwi fans: Red Bull KTM remains all-in on MX2 with Laengenfelder as its spearhead, while Adamo’s MXGP graduation keeps the brand’s ladder intact. Expect the Austrian outfit to bring a refined 250 SX-F package to 2026 as Laengenfelder targets a repeat—an achievement not seen by the orange factory since 2019.
