Madison Brown won her third Expert Ladies crown at the final round of the 2016 Victorian Senior Motocross Championships at Swan Hill on the weekend of July 23-24.
The current Australian Women’s Motocross and Supercross won the title by 11 points over Ballarat’s Emma Milesevic and California Gully’s Courtney Whyte-Dennis.
The Women’s World MX Championship rider was thrilled at winning her third Victorian title: “It’s awesome. I’m pretty happy with it. It’s my third year in-a-row and I achieved my goal so I’m pretty happy,” Madison said.
Maddy won two out of three motos in the final round. “I rode well on the weekend. In the first race, Emma (Milesevic) and I were battling well and I knew I just had to win one of the motos to secure the championship. Emma and I were dicing in the first race and she beat me by just 00.175 seconds.
“Unfortunately, Emma got penalised from an Official. I really didn’t think anything of it until the end of the moto. I was pretty gutted for her but I guess that happens,” Maddy said.
“In moto 2, I still knew I had to get a win to secure the title and I wasn’t going to rely on a penalty or anything like so I went out and got the moto win which I was pretty happy with. In the third race, all I had to do was get a fourth-place so I just rode smartly and finished second,” she added.
Maddy picks the third round at Wonthaggi in June as her best round of the series, again winning two out of three races. “I rode really well at Wonthaggi. It was one of my better rounds but I also rode really well at Swan Hill. The track was awesome,” Maddy added.
Maddy was also happy to finish seventh overall in the A Lites class. “I got finished in tenth-place last year but to move up into seventh-place this year I was pretty happy about that,” she added.
Maddy also competes in the Women’s MX World Championships where her best result this year was a tenth overall in Round 4 in Germany in May. “It’s been alright, I’ve been struggling a bit. I know it’s no excuse, but the bike that I have is not like my bike at home. It’s a second-hand bike.
“My best result this year has been a seventh-place (Race 1) in Germany but other than that I have struggled with a few crashes in the other rounds,” Maddy said.
“I’m going to compete in my last selected round in Switzerland (on August 7) where I’m hoping to get a better result there and see how that goes,” Maddy added.
“I would really like to thank DPH Motorsports, Yamaha Australia, Thor, Psy, True Tune Suspension, CTi Knee Braces, and a big thanks to my Mum and Dad and everyone who supports me,” she thanked.
The Australian Women’s MX champion will head to Coolum in Queensland for the 2016 Motul Women’s MX Nationals where she hopes to win her third consecutive national title: “Hopefully, I can carry the same momentum into the Women’s MX Nationals and just have fun with it,” she added.
