https://www.mxgp.com/The Top End is gearing up for a high-stakes motocross spectacle as the 2025 MXGP of Australia roars into Hidden Valley Raceway, Darwin from September 19-21, marking the FIM Motocross World Championship’s highly anticipated return Down Under after 24 years with the schedule now released.
As the final round of the 2025 championship, Darwin is set to witness history on a purpose-built, 1.6km world-class track, with three 2025 world champions to be crowned on home soil in the MXGP, MX2 and WMX (women’s) classes.
The MXGP of Australia promises three days of thrilling on-track action. Day one of racing kicks off on Friday, September 19 with the commencement of the Motorcycling Australia State Challenge featuring MX3 (14-18 years) and MX85 (12-16 years) riders.
The full quota of three MX85 motos will be held on the Friday, while the MX3 riders will be out twice.
Saturday, September 20 brings a packed schedule, with practice and qualifying sessions for the three world championship classes, as well as the historic first race for the FIM Women’s Motocross World Championship in Australia. The final Aussie MX3 moto will also be held at 4:45pm.
Sunday is when the intensity really ratchets up with five world championship motos: two each for MXGP and MX2 and the second WMX encounter.
Darwin is the 20th and final round for MXGP and MX2, and the sixth and final round for WMX – with the thrilling possibility that all three FIM world championships could go down to the wire in the Top End.
Selected Australian riders will be given wildcard entries into the MXGP, MX2 and WMX classes, offering a golden opportunity to compete against the world’s best motocross riders. The wildcard recipients will be announced soon.
Beyond the international battles, the Motorcycling Australia State Challenge will keep the on-track action flowing. Each State Controlling Body in Australia will select two six-rider MX3 and MX85 teams via their own qualifying processes.
In Darwin, three trophies will be awarded: to the top states in MX3 and MX85, and an overall winner.
