The Alpinestars Tech 10 has long been the gold standard in motocross boots and with the Alpinestars Tech 10 Enduro version, Alpinestars has refined the design specifically for the demands of off-road terrain.
I was initially hesitant about these boots – my last pair of Tech 10s felt restrictive and their bulk made me feel like I was wearing moon boots – but after getting some solid ride time in, I can say these have come a long way and that movement in the boot is noticeably better. They feel narrower and more streamlined and, while they’re still bulkier than Tech 7s, they don’t feel as bulky as they look.
Right out of the box, the Tech 10 Enduro feels rigid but well-supported, thanks to the Frontal Flexion Control Frame and the ankle control system. The flexibility is there when you need it but there’s no unwanted movement or overextension. Despite their rugged construction, comfort is impressive. The dual-compound footbed and microfibre lining make long rides feel surprisingly cushy, and the boots sit snug around the calf without pressure points.
One of the biggest improvements is the slimmer profile. Older Tech 10s felt massive, largely due to the inner bootie, but these feel less clunky while still giving that locked-in protected feel. The TPU lower shell, reinforced shifter area and Dynamic Heel Compression Protector (DCHP) are just a few of the elements working together to keep feet and ankles safe. The boot distributes impact forces well and, while I haven’t taken any big hits yet, I wouldn’t be surprised if these save me from a nasty ankle roll in the future. The triple buckle closure system feels solid and is easier to operate than older models, making it quick to dial in the fit.
So far the Tech 10 Enduro feels like a more refined and versatile version of the classic Tech 10, offering top-tier protection without completely sacrificing movement and comfort. More testing to come.
