After spending a few months putting four pairs of Oakleys through their paces we’ve got a clear verdict on which pairs shine, which ones slipped and which ones snapped when we least expected it. We tested the Corridor SQ, Latch Panel, Actuator SQ and Leadline. Each had its strengths and quirks, but one pair clearly ended up as the daily favourite.
We Liked
Coverage The Latch Panel quickly became the go-to for everyday wear. It’s incredibly comfortable, stays put on your nose and the black side panel is a game-changer for blocking that sneaky side glare that usually gets under your helmet or cap brim. It offers solid coverage and protection without looking like you’re ready to climb Everest.
Protection The Corridor SQ was a standout early on thanks to its full-wrap fit and outstanding sun-blocking lens – it was hands-down the best for high-glare environments. The lens tint was perfect for summer days or long days fishing in direct sun.
Classy The Actuator SQ took the win when dressing up was needed. It’s sturdy, has a slightly darker lens, and because it’s trendier, it blends into more formal occasions.
Chicks The Leadline found a loving home with the missus, who rates it highly for its smaller, more feminine frame and fit. Apparently, it doesn’t pinch, it doesn’t fall off, and it looks good while blocking the sun at the same time.
We Didn’t Like
Busted arm The Corridor SQ’s left arm broke clean off at the hinge. That was a proper mood-killer for a pair that looked like it could survive a nuclear blast.
Loose side On the Latch Panel, the little black side panels sometimes popped out randomly. Not a dealbreaker, but definitely annoying when you have to go looking for them.
Cost Across the board they’re expensive. But hey, they’re Oakleys. You’re paying for premium optics and build quality.
Verdict
While the Corridor SQ started strong, the Latch Panel took the crown for all-round usability and comfort. It fits snug, stays on your face and blocks awkward light without looking too OTT. The Actuator SQ makes a great dress-up option, and the Leadline works perfectly for smaller faces. Despite a few gripes (mostly hinge and panel-related), the Oakley range proved to be a solid investment. Mitch Lees
