Kingsford takes the 2025 SX2 crown after a bruising showdown at the Boost Mobile AUSX Grand Final in Adelaide
The AUSX SX2 title went down to the wire in Adelaide, with more twists and turns than the track itself. Kingswood came into the final round with a narrow lead over Larwood, and the weekend got off to the right start for the Goulburn rider as he went fastest in qualifying and won his heat.
Final One only lasted until the first corner before chaos ensued for the Monster Energy Yamaha rider however, with a pile-up burying Kingsford back in the pack and swinging the championship arithmetic sharply toward Larwood. Meanwhile, Budd escaped clean at the front, but Dennis stepped it up mid-race to hunt him down, sticking the pass for his first win of the season. Larwood closed the points gap with second and Ryder Kingsford fought back for an eventful final place on the podium.

The Final Two decider was an all-or-nothing affair for Larwood, and he duly fired out of the gate with a perfect holeshot and checked out immediately, with Budd and Cannon chasing after in formation. Kingsford was down in sixth, tipping over briefly before remounting. The points swung back and forth by the lap, but once Kingsford reached fourth the title belonged to him again.

Larwood won the final race of the season and reflected on a significant step forward: “It’s tough. I’ve had a lot of injuries throughout my career, and I made too many mistakes early on because I was being cautious. This weekend I proved to myself that I can win races, I just need to do it more consistently if I want to win a championship.” Kingsford lost the battle but won the SX2 war, summing up his season with “From laying on the deck at round one to being champion… I made it hard for myself. It’s bloody unbelievable. Thank you to my team, I couldn’t be here without them.”

SX3
SX3 delivered its own two-moto thriller and a composed champion’s ride when it mattered. Ryder Malinoski arrived with a four-point advantage, but Main Event 1 immediately reframed the afternoon. Despite starting inside the top three, Malinoski faded behind his rivals as Kayd Kingsford produced a clutch, must-win performance that dragged the title chase into a deadlock with Jack Deveson heading into the final gate drop of the year.

Main Event 2 was a masterclass in nerve and execution. Kingsford ripped a perfect holeshot, controlled the laps from wire to wire and never offered a sniff, sealing his first SX3 crown in statement style to cap a breakout season. Deveson took second overall in the championship, with Malinoski third, after a day where the pressure meter rarely budged off red.

85 CUP
The KTM SX85 Futures Finals brought heart and hazard in equal measure as the next wave put on a show fit for Championship Sunday. Series leader Blake Bohanon started the day with a commanding 30-point advantage and one hand on the trophy, only for a heavy crash through a rhythm lane in the first main to turn the script on its head. He remounted to salvage points but surrendered 11 to a hard-charging Ollie Birkett, who kept the chase alive.

Main Event 2 added another layer of adversity as Bohanon, riding with a strapped-up thumb from the earlier spill, was taken down again in Turn 2. Twice down, twice back on—the young Queenslander dug deep and pieced together a recovery ride that yielded exactly what he needed. He clinched the 2025 85cc Futures title ahead of Birkett, with Luis Cannon third overall, a gutsy, hard-earned crown that said as much about character as it did about speed.
