Mounted on his Estenson Racing YZ450F, Tom Drane was in the battle early for a podium position before the first of two red flags come out. A revitalised Tom Drane was fired up at the re start and charged to the front and looked to be headed for another victory but then a second red flag was thrown with a few laps left to run.

The field was then compressed and restarted for an all-out, three lap sprint to the flag. In a chaotic finish, Drane couldn’t quite hang onto the race lead and finished in second place, just .2 of a second behind the leader.

The podium position did move Drane up to third in the championship, five points from second.

“Another great weekend for me and the team, it was just a shame the last red flag came out as a worked hard to build up a gap over the field but that went as soon as the restart was called.

“But that’s racing and I still had the chance to win in the final few laps, but just couldn’t get it done. Second is good and we will keep at it as the results are coming along and I’m getting closer in the championship points,” he ends.
