TOM DRANE WINS AFT LIME HALF MILE | Latest | News | Race Reports

Aussie Yamaha rider Tom Drane solidifies second place in AFT Singles Championship with Lima Half Mile Victory on the weekend.

Tom Drane solidified his second place in the AFT Singles championship with a hard-fought victory at the Lima Half Mile over the weekend.

In an eventful 20-lap main event, Drane leapt out to an early lead but then had to handle a late race attack by his rivals, as well as lapped traffic and fallen riders, to secure the win by 0.5 of a second over championship leader Kody Kopp.

Drane now holds second place in the championship, 32 points behind Kopp but four points ahead of Chase Saathoff in third.

“I had to work for that one. I knew Kody was closing in, and I had to stay on the job and race all the way to the finish. The last couple of laps were chaotic, but I felt good on the bike all day, and the team did a great job.

The surface at Lima is similar to what I grew up on at home, so it is one of my favorite tracks here in the US and a cool one to win for the team,” Drane said.

To make it a successful day for the Drane family, younger brother Sam finished second in the 250cc amateur class.
