Top Step for DPH Husqvarna in Adelaide | News

DPH Motorsport Factory Husqvarna Racing team's Hayden Mellross took the SX2 (250cc) win in the triple crown format, with a 1-1-2 scorecard.

The fourth round of the Australian Supercross Championship, held in South Australia’s Gillman Raceway, has seen DPH Motorsport Factory Husqvarna Racing team’s Hayden Mellross take the SX2 (250cc) win in the triple crown format, with a 1-1-2 scorecard. Team-mate Dylan Wills showed impressive speed all night, despite two crashes, resulting in a 3-11-19 scorecard for ninth overall.

Dale Hocking, DPH Husqvarna team owner: “It feels great to get that win with Hayden tonight! In fact, to have both Dylan and Hayden riding the way they did really makes the hard work pay off. After the 1-3 finish in race one, we were looking pretty good for a strong result with both racers, but it just wasn’t to be, with Dylan going down heavily in the last race after being in contention all night. Well done to Jarrod, Marty and Boyd for the work they put in behind the scenes to give our riders the best prepared equipment on the grid and of course to our sponsors, who continue to provide us with the components and support to have the best motorcycles in Australia.”

Hayden Mellross: “What an incredible and near perfect day. We finally got the overall round win and I couldn’t be any happier. To overcome the setbacks and challenges I have been faced with this season, felt amazing. This truly has been the sweetest and most rewarding win yet. The whole team and I have been working so hard to achieve this result and I couldn’t be prouder to be part of such an amazing team.”

Dylan Wills: “Although the overall result was ninth, the work we did through the week really showed. My starts were stronger and i was in the mix, challenging at the front, in all three races, and even grabbing the fastest lap in the second race. Again, some crashes that weren’t always within my control dropped me down the finishing order, especially when it took some time to get the bike going after hitting the ground heavily in the last race. As always, a big thank you to all the team and all our partners that keep me on the track on the best equipment and looking good! I’m really looking forward to closing the season strong in Sydney and seeing if I can climb higher in the final championship standings.”

With a few weeks to rest, recuperate and prepare for the fifth and final round of the 2018 Australian Supercross Championship on November 9, the DPH Motorsport Husqvarna Factory Racing Team are focused on a strong finish in an attempt to secure the elusive SX2 Championship at the AUS-X Open.
