The Seven Network has signed a multi-year deal to air FIM World Supercross Championship live and free in Australia.
Coverage will begin with broadcasts of upcoming Championship events in Cardiff and Melbourne, while continuing with coverage of the entire 2023 season on 7plus!
The Australian sports and entertainment company announced a multi-year agreement with The Seven Network to bring WSX event broadcasts into over 12 million homes across Australia, beginning with the upcoming 2022 Championship Rounds from Cardiff, Wales and Melbourne, Australia on Oct. 9, 21 and 22 respectively.
The three-hour coverage of WSX events will air Live and Free on The Seven Network’s 7plus platform, with a combination of live and as-live coverage on 7mate, along with regular replays on both platforms. With the agreement spanning beyond the 2022 pilot season events and covering the entire 2023 WSX season, The Seven Network will become Australia’s official home for WSX in its mission to drive global expansion for supercross in new markets around the world, allowing fans hungry to experience the sport firsthand on their home turf.
Chad Reed is ready for the British round in Cardiff.
The first-ever FIM World Supercross Championship event will be the WSX British Grand Prix at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales on Sunday, October 9 with The Seven Network’s same-day coverage starting at 3:30 a.m. Australian Eastern Daylight Savings Time. The international field for the British Grand Prix will feature Australian supercross icon Chad Reed, local British favorites Dean Wilson and Max Anstie, reigning U.S. champion Eli Tomac, and former U.S. supercross and motocross champion Ken Roczen. Motorsport fans will be able to catch all the action Live and Free or on-demand on 7plus, the very morning of The Seven Network’s coverage of the Great Race – the Repco Bathurst 1000.
The second round – the WSX Australian Grand Prix from Marvel Stadium in Melbourne, Australia – will include a Friday night “curtain raiser” featuring the Australian Supercross Championship and opening WSX timed practice for the Grand Prix to be carried live and available for free on 7plus and The Seven Network. Coverage on Friday, October 21 begins at 6:30 p.m. Australian Eastern Daylight Savings Time, while coverage on Saturday, October 22 starts at 7:00 p.m. Australian Eastern Daylight Savings Time on 7plus and as-live on 7mate. The star-studded international field of riders continues in Melbourne as riders vie for the 2022 FIM World Supercross Championship title, at the second of the two WSX pilot season events.
