Motorcycling comes in countless forms, from the raw simplicity of dirt track racing to the precise techniques of trials riding. There’s no shortage of ways to enjoy life on two wheels, but finding a facility that caters to multiple disciplines can be a challenge. The Broadford Motorcycle Complex in Victoria is the rare exception, offering motorcycle enthusiasts a one-stop destination for all things motorcycling.
Located on 260 Strath Creek Road, the complex spans decades of history, starting with the land purchase by Motorcycling Victoria in the early 1970s. The first track – a motocross circuit – was opened in 1975 by the then Prime Minister, the Honourable Sir Malcolm Fraser. Since then, the facility has grown to include four main tracks: a sealed road race circuit; a motocross and mini track for kids; a speedway/dirt track circuit; and an enduro loop.
The Broadford Motorcycle Complex, formerly known as Reg Hunt Park, has been pivotal in developing Victoria’s motorcycling community. It provides first-class facilities for newcomers to the sport and serves as a professional training ground for future champions. Over the years, Broadford has hosted prestigious events, including Australia’s only World Motocross and SuperMoto Grand Prix events in 2000, 2001 and 2005. It remains a hub for club, state, and national-level competitions, attracting more than 4000 participants and spectators during major events.
Affordable track days and hire options make Broadford accessible to all riders, from novices to seasoned experts. Riders need an annual or single-day recreational competition licence to enjoy the tracks, and practice days are regularly held for all disciplines. Beyond motorcycling, the complex hosts corporate events and even facilitates road testing for larger vehicles like 4WDs, showcasing its versatility.
Owned and operated by Motorcycling Victoria, Broadford continues to innovate and uphold its reputation as a progressive organisation within the sporting industry. The iconic Broadford Bike Bonanza, held annually over the Easter weekend, celebrates classic motorcycles and draws enthusiasts from across the country.
With world-class tracks, a rich history, and a commitment to fostering talent and community, Broadford remains an essential destination for any motorcycling enthusiast.
