Broome Motocross Track is 1.6kms a lap of sandy loam built to Motorcycling Australia guidelines catering to all levels of rider abilities and is accompanied by a little persons’ track of 200 metres. Even though remote Broome Motocross Club is a vibrant club with approximately 100 members and operates all year round although during the wet season from November to April the heat and humidity are high so there is less riding.

The track is serviced by a fully automated watering system which allows the track to be watered every night during the dry season if needed. They have their our own solar powered water bore on site with a 7kW system and approximately 120,000 litre water storage capacity allowing the track to be watered at night and track maintenance is taken care of by their own bulldozer, bobcat , tractor mounted rotary hoe,  track car and scarifying drag so the track stays in good condition. Becoming a member is $280 for a senior and a $50 deposit gets you a key to ride any time you like from sunup to sunset.

Broome club has a seven round championship of their own, and hosts a round of the North West Motorcycle Association’s five round championship as well. On race days the shop is full of home-made hamburgers and pies along with all sorts of food and drinks as well as a licenced bar and a huge grassed elevated spectator area. There are toilets, showers, mobile phone service, heaps of potable water, BBQ, camping area, communal fire pit and a bike wash bay with pressure washer.

The club is currently waiting on an answer to their funding application with the WA State Government to provide lighting across the whole track to MA specifications. The application is shortlisted and they hope to get confirmation soon, as they want the lights up and running before the end of this season. The project is worth nearly half a million dollars.

If anyone is in the area and wanted a go round and has their own bike and gear, for $20 you can ride all day with a member present, they tell us they’d love to see some more visitors up there.
