Yamaha rider Daymon Stokie has won the 2017 Tatts Finke Desert Race ahead of Husqvarna's Ivan Long and KTM's Luke Hayes.
Stokie was second fastest on Day 1, coming in five minutes behind KTM’s David Walsh. However, Walsh would DNF the return leg of the race on Day 2 allowing the Northern Territory local through for the win.
Husqvarna’s Ivan Long started Day 2 15 minutes behind the leader but would claim back over six-minutes on the return leg to finish second overall.
Local boy Luke Hayes put in a consistent ride on both days and finished third overall.
Several big ticket riders including Josh Green, Jacob Smith, Jack Simpson and Rod Faggotter would unfortunately DNF the event.
Toby Price and teammate, Luke Henry, racing the #487 Geiser truck finished fifth on Day 1 but would DNF Day 2.
