I’ve just hopped off the bike after my first ride wearing the new Airoh Aviator ACE 2 and I’m pretty impressed. The first thing that stood out straight away was the weight. It’s a very light helmet and there were moments during the ride where it barely felt like I had a lid on at all. The padding feels firm but comfortable, and it sits nicely on the head without any pressure points or areas that dig in.
On the bike it felt cool and well ventilated. The airflow through the helmet is noticeable and it didn’t fog up with my goggles either, which is always a good sign. Comfort-wise it’s been excellent so far. The liner feels quality, and the fit is snug without being tight or restrictive, which is exactly what you want in a motocross helmet.
I haven’t had a big hit to the head yet but it’s good to know the Aviator ACE 2 uses a composite carbon shell with two shell sizes, and it’s backed up with ASN technology designed to help reduce impact forces, along with AEFR emergency cheek pad removal.
So far the first impression is really positive. It’s lightweight, comfortable and flows a good amount of air. The real test will come once I get some more hours in it and start riding in some rougher and wetter conditions to see how that ventilation works when things get muddy and messy.
