The two-time Australian Supercross champion reunites with Quad Lock Honda after a global racing run, as Savatgy fights through injury
Joey Savatgy continues to defy expectations, delivering another outstanding performance at Round 12 of the AMA Supercross Championship in St. Louis. Racing with a broken foot, Savatgy’s seventh-place finish was a powerful display of resilience, determination, and elite-level skill.
“I’m not going to lie, the pain gets worse as the race goes on,” said Savatgy. “The adrenaline wears off and it becomes a matter of survival.”
Despite his injury, Savatgy’s grit has kept him firmly in contention for a top-five finish in the championship standings. Currently sitting sixth overall, his position is remarkable given the circumstances.

“I missed races and came back when the pain became manageable, but it’s still broken and still something I’m dealing with,” he added. “The goal is to finish where we are or better. This is the best position I’ve been in within the Supercross Championship, and it’s also the best the team has achieved in the 450 class, so I know how important that is for everyone.”
Quad Lock Honda teammates Christian Craig and Shane McElrath finished 11th and 12th respectively. While Craig showed strong pace after a crash, both riders were left short of their expectations on the night.

With five rounds remaining, the team also welcomes back Dean Wilson to AMA Supercross competition. A two-time Australian Supercross Champion, as well as a champion in Brazil and the UK, Wilson returns to the U.S. following a global racing campaign.
“I love racing Supercross,” said Wilson. “My schedule is a bit unique, but it gives me the opportunity to compete all over the world. This year I’ve raced in the UK and Costa Rica, and I’ll head back to Brazil later in the year. Racing in front of American fans is something I’ll never take for granted.”

Wilson’s return also marks a homecoming to the team he has been a part of for the past five years. In 2024, he made a special appearance with Factory Honda through a collaboration between Quad Lock Honda and Team HRC Progressive Honda, fulfilling a lifelong ambition.
“My team has been great, very supportive and accommodating,” Wilson said. “I’m really looking forward to lining up with them again for the final five rounds.”
The AMA Supercross Championship continues this weekend with Round 13 in Nashville.
