LONG TERM TEST #5 | CFMOTO CX-2E | Bike Reviews

Jax, the son of ADB Editor Mitch Lees, has ben shredding on his CFMOTO CX-2E for nearly six months now and nothing has gone wrong!

As soon as Jax turned two and jumped on an electric balance bike, I’ve been singing their praises. They’re awesome for teaching kids too small to ride a Yamaha PW50 or CFMOTO CX-2E throttle control, balance and braking. Except, they do have one flaw and that’s braking.

Electric balance bikes only have one brake and it is the back brake on the right hand side. This has taught Jax that a motorcycles back brake is activated by a lever on the right hand side of the handlebar. When Jax was three he hopped on a Torrot Motocross One which was an electric dirtbike with the rear brake also on the right hand side of the handlebar. So, you can imagine his confusion when he hopped on the CFMOTO CX-2E and the rear brake was down on his right foot, where it should be.

It has taken Jax months to require his brain to step on the brake not grab at it with his hand. His little brain always forgets to put his foot down and often I have to illustrate using his foot to brake when he’s heading for a tree.

The rear brake is excellent and the lever easy to find and feel for Jax. It hasn’t worn and Jax is able to do bigger skids because he can use the back brake like a footpeg and stand on it! The rest of the CFMOTO CX-2E is still going strong with nothing braking.
