Bold new 2025–2028 roadmap unveiled to get more Australians riding safely and inclusively
Motorcycling Australia (MA), the national governing body for motorcycle sport, today launched its landmark ‘Ride Well Strategy – Motorcycling in Australia 2025-2028’, a bold, collaborative blueprint designed to grow participation, strengthen communities and ensure a vibrant future for motorcycling across the nation.
Developed in close partnership with MA’s State Controlling Bodies (SCBs), the strategy is built on the foundational pillars of Venues & Growth, Connectivity & Innovation, People & Culture and Social Responsibility. It directly aligns with the Australian Sports Commission’s ‘Play Well’ vision of creating safe, welcoming, inclusive and fun sporting experiences for everyone.
The strategy outlines six key participation priorities for its first phase (2025-2028):
- Empowering People & Organisations: New training for recreational officials and a best-practice digital e-learning platform for all members.
- Driving Lifelong Involvement: Introducing mentor program guidelines and a national volunteer recognition program.
- Activating Places & Spaces: Increasing accessibility via ‘Come and Try’ days in controlled environments and supporting clubs with grant-writing guidelines.
- Building Connections: Strengthening collaboration between MA and the SCBs to harmonise participation pathways and national standards.
- Championing Equitable Access: Reducing barriers to entry for underrepresented communities and launching a national media campaign highlighting the benefits of community-based motorcycling.
- Transforming Culture: Embedding the highest standards of integrity and child safeguarding across the sport in partnership with Sport Integrity Australia.
“Our purpose is to nurture and grow a vibrant motorcycling community united by a passion for our sport,” said Peter Doyle, MA CEO.
“The Ride Well Strategy is our roadmap to empower more Australians to ride, race and enjoy motorcycling more frequently and in more locations. Success for us is measured in moments as people from all walks of life discover the joy of motorcycling in a supportive environment.”
This is a strategy built from the ground up for the entire motorcycling ecosystem, from the 380 clubs and 5000 volunteers to elite international athletes. By working together, the collaboration will foster inclusive environments, drive innovation and establish an enduring culture of safety and stewardship.
The Ride Well Strategy acknowledges the vital role of MA’s network, which includes over 24,000 annual licence holders, 92,000 one-event participants and more than 5600 sanctioned events each year. It sets a strong foundation for the years ahead, ensuring motorcycling is a sport where every Australian belongs.
