There are fuel cans, and then there’s the Polisport Pro Octane. Built rock solid and incredibly well balanced, it’s leak-resistant and has enough features to make your average plastic jerry can feel like it belongs in a museum.
We’ve been using both cap systems – the standard nozzle with a breather hose and the quick-fill system – and they are genuinely handy. The regular hose setup comes with an inbuilt breather, which is much better than fumbling with a separate breather cap and getting fuel on your hands. That said, the breather hose does need to be in the perfect position to let air in and get the fuel flowing fast. Once it’s dialled in, it pours beautifully, but until then it can be a bit fiddly.
The two-handle design makes a big difference too. Whether you’re pouring into a dirtbike, a buggy or something weird with a hard-to-reach tank, the handles give you full control and eliminate the wobbly two-finger dance most fuel cans require. The quick-fill cap is perfect for race-day pit stops.
One of the standout features is the detachable oil measuring jug clipped onto the side. It might seem like a small addition, but it’s awesome. You no longer need to bring a separate bottle. It’s clean, quick and easy to read.
So far, we’ve had no leaks, no dribbles and no cracks. The oil/fuel mix gauge on the cap is a nice touch too – no more sniff tests or guessing games. The only real gripe is that breather hose positioning. It’s the one thing that keeps it from being flawless, but once you’ve got the feel for it, it’s smooth sailing. Stay tuned.
