SERVICE INTERVALS

TROUBLE

Motocross bikes have no odometer or any way of measuring and monitoring engine life so keeping up the service intervals at regular time periods can be difficult.

TRICK

Fit an aftermarket hour meter which will monitor engine hours so you can perform your service intervals in a regular time period.

SHORTY

TROUBLE

You have a two-stroke motorcycle and no matter what you do with the jetting you can’t seem to get the instant bark out of the engine that you are looking for.

TRICK

Shorten the silencer. This will make the bike louder but will also make the engine more responsive. The tradeoff is you can potentially lose top-end power.

TERMINAL SAFETY

TROUBLE

You have the top end pulled apart on your bike in the garage and one of your mates happens to walk in and presses the start button sending the crank round and round smashing your piston to pieces.

TRICK

Remove a lead from the battery so if anyone happens to hit the start button nothing will happen.

ASSEMBLY LUBE

TROUBLE

When assembling any engine parts it is important to coat the parts in assembly lube before fitting which can be a rather messy job.

TRICK
