DEAN WILSON TO RACE 2024 WSX WITH HONDA | Latest | News

Dean Wilson returns for the 2024 FIM World Supercross Championship (WSX) with reigning Teams’ Champions Fire Power Honda.

Fire Power Honda has revealed one half of its WSX class rider lineup for the 2024 FIM World Supercross Championship (WSX) season, confirming that Dean Wilson will return to the WSX top level.

Since joining WSX with Fire Power Honda for the championship’s inaugural season, Wilson has become a standout competitor and will return for a third campaign in 2024 after emerging as a key title protagonist last year, contributing a significant number of points to the Teams’ Championship.

Holding two overall WSX podium finishes – claimed at the WSX Abu Dhabi and Australian GPs last season – Wilson’s speed is unmistakeable, and the Glasgow-born, Florida and California-based racer will likely be a frontrunner once more this season.

Ending 2023 with the Australian Supercross Championship title and a second place at the WSX Australian GP, Wilson experienced further success earlier this year after becoming the Brazilian Arenacross runner up, while also competing in the AMA Motocross and AMA Supercross 450 championships.

Dean Wilson, WSX Rider, Fire Power Honda, said: “I’m looking forward to spending another season in WSX with Fire Power Honda this year. Since we joined forces back in 2022, we’ve been fortunate to build a very strong baseline, and we saw the result of our hard work take shape last season with the podiums in Abu Dhabi and Australia. I’m confident that we’ll be able to take another step forward this season, and I firmly believe that we’ll be able to build upon and take advantage of our current momentum when the action gets underway in Vancouver. There’s a lot I want to achieve in this series on a personal level, and everyone at Fire Power Honda is deeply motivated to be at the front, winning races. I’m excited to get the season started.”

The FIM World Supercross Championship’s 2024 season will commence on 26 October at BC Place in Vancouver for the WSX Canadian GP and will continue on 23-24 November with the WSX Australian GP – the series’ first-ever double-header event at HBF Park in Perth. Abu Dhabi will host the finale on 4 December at Etihad Arena, where two World Champions will be crowned.

Yarrive Konsky, Team Principal, Fire Power Honda, added: “Dean is one of the top 450 riders, a true showman, and a fierce competitor. I know he’ll be racing with the goal of being a podium contender. After securing third overall in last year’s World Championship and winning the Australian Supercross Championship, he’s proven that his drive to win is as strong as ever. He’s claimed victories in Brazil and finished in the top 10 at the final round of AMA Supercross in Salt Lake City. Dean works hard, gives everything on the track, and always makes time for the fans. He’s a great champion and the people’s favourite.”
