To help support the current drought relief effort in Australia, Villopoto himself decided offering up his bike would be a great way to raise awareness and much-needed funds to help support our struggling farmers.

Thanks to the team at Buy a Bale and Rural Aid Australia anyone with a ticket to this year’s AUS-X Open Sydney on either day of competition, who donates a minimum $20 to Buy a Bale via this unique AUS-X Open link, will be in the running to win the world champion’s race bike.

“My agent is Australian and he was telling me about the drought situation down in Australia, and when were talking about it almost immediately came on the TV on the news over here [in the US], so if it’s on our local news that means it’s a pretty bad situation,” Villopoto said.

“So me and my agent started spitballing ideas and thought that instead of me just coming down to Australia and just taking, we want to try to give back and help where I can.

“So thanks to my amazing partnership with Yamaha they’re going to throw in the bike I race at the AUS-X Open and we’re going to raffle it off through Buy a Bale and try and help out where we can with this drought crisis and help the farmers that are in need.”

Villopoto has also offered to donate his custom riding gear, boots and helmet as secondary prizes to this amazing major prize of the #2 YZ450F as kindly donated by Villopoto and Yamaha Motor Australia.

With four World Supercross and five Motocross titles to his name, Villopoto is one of the biggest names on two wheels to ever race in Sydney and will go head-to-head with Chad Reed, American – Justin Barcia, current world number five Justin Brayton and current World Champion Jason Anderson, for the AUS-X Open crown.

Villopoto is set to line up behind the gates in both Sydney, as well as Auckland on November 24, which will see the American as a contender for the inaugural S-X Open International Supercross FIM Oceania Championship, with hopes of taking down the likes of Reed and Brayton for the title.

NSW Minister for Tourism and Major Events Adam Marshall praised the four-time World Champion for helping support our farmers who are doing it tough.

“Ryan Villopoto is a supercross legend and this is a rare opportunity for fans from around Australia and the world to see him back in action right here in Sydney, Australia’s home of adrenaline sport,” Mr Marshall said.

“I would like to thank Ryan for his support of the NSW drought relief efforts, with all proceeds from the raffle of his bike going to support our farmers. This is a unique opportunity for fans to not only own a priceless piece of racing memorabilia but to also support those in country NSW who are doing it tough.

“Tickets are selling fast for the AUS-X Open so I encourage everyone to secure their seats quickly and start planning their weekend in Sydney,” he said.

The AUS-X Open Sydney is supported by the NSW Government via its tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW.
