Ruben Chadwick wins day 1 and comes in 4th on day 2 at the “Insane Ride” in Tasmania for Round 5 of the Australian Hard Enduro Championship.
Chadwick set the early pace achieving Gold Class P1 in Saturday’s prologue at the final round of the Grassroots Australian Hard Enduro Championship held in Tasmania. Teams made the journey across the bass straight to the small and town of Poatina located 60 km south of Launceston.
The event required riders to navigate via GPS and tracks set by Hard Enduro Adventures Tasmania ensuring a challenging finale with plenty of slippery, muddy hills and deep creeks.
Saturday Prologue – 1st Place
“I was really happy to set the fastest lap time on Saturdays prologue,” said Chadwick “it was a gnarly track with a lot of man made concrete sections including pipes and logs that really tested your skills out.”
“On Saturday in the afternoon we did a top 20 race, it was a technical little track and you had to be really on your game to not make mistakes getting around it. I was happy with my performance finishing second to Wade Ibrahim who just pipped me in the end.”
Main Race – 4th Place
“It was really cool terrain,” said Chadwick, “the course had some hectic creek sections with knee deep water in places, big rocks and waterfalls that we had to ride up. Overall it really tested us out, I threw myself on those rocks a few times trying to get through it.
It was a big and brutal day on the bike with conditions a fair bit different to what I’m used to riding on. It was tough but it was good and as the race went on I gained confidence riding in the mud.”
“The GPS style event was challenging for me being my first time, I was going pretty well navigating but unfortunately I ended up smashing my GPS in one of the creeks, I got a bit lost as a result but got there in the end and managed to finish.”
“Last but not least a big thanks to my team and our sponsors for their support as always.”
