FREE TRICK: SPLIT HOSES Photo 1-5-2024, 9 49 32 AM

TROUBLE:

Dirtbikes get ridden through all kinds of mud and water that has a bad habit of getting everywhere. It can even get its way into the carby overflow hoses causing them to block up which will stop the carb from filling with fuel properly and can lead to bogs and misfires.

TRICK:

Take a pair of side cutters and cut slits into the ends of the carb breather hoses. This prevents any mud or water from building up in the ends of the hoses locking them up.

FREE TRICK: VENTED AIR BOX

TROUBLE:

The KTM motorcycles have a vented air box cover which allows more air to enter the air box which results in more responsive power. The only problem with this is as the vents are open to the side it can also allow water to get in during wet weather.

TRICK:

Instead, take the standard none vented cover and cut out this flap at the rear of the cover. This will allow more air into the air box giving the same increase in throttle response but as this flap faces towards the rear of the motorcycle, it will be much less likely for water to splash into the air box.

FREE TRICK: WATER HOLE

TROUBLE:

The front number plate on a KTM is held in place by an 8mm bolt recessed into the plate. This bolt hole has a habit of filling and retaining water when you wash the bike.

TRICK:

If it bothers you as much as this guy then you can drill a small hole in the bottom of the recess so the water can drain out and doesn’t build up.

FREE TRICK: STICKY CAP

TROUBLE:

Spark plug caps such as these cap/coil types used on modern day four stroke motorcycles don’t get removed often so they can get really tight.

TRICK:

Before fitting the plug cap into position, spray the seals both external and internal with some silicon spray. This will help the cap slip into place with ease and will make it easier to remove later on.
