I’ve had the Airoh Aviator Ace 2 helmet now for around two months and I’ve enjoyed putting it through its paces.
The first thing I noticed about the helmet was the weight, or lack of it. Being made from a composite carbon material, it makes sense. Just picking it up, it’s noticeably lighter than some of its competitors, which is pretty impressive. While I’m not usually a huge fan of plain black helmets, it has grown on me, and it’s every bit as comfortable as the other top helmets on the market. I threw it on to check the sizing and it felt spot on. That being said, it was time to get it dirty.
The first day I wore it was wet and raining, so it was a great opportunity to see how it performed. While testing some bikes in slow, technical sections, I was keen to see what the airflow was like and whether it would cause any fogging issues with my goggles. To answer my own question, it passed with flying colours.
The other thing I focus on when buying a helmet is safety. The Airoh is fitted with the ASN safety feature, which is essentially Airoh’s version of the MIPS system designed to reduce rotational forces, as well as the AEFR (Airoh Emergency Fast Release) system. Both of these features make this helmet one of the safest on the market, and knowing I’m wearing a good lid is a huge bonus for me.
I’m keen to get some more hours in this helmet and keep you all updated on any faults (if there are any) and what I continue to like about it.
