Its been a hell of a good time these past nine months but unfortunately its now time to part ways with my trusty Sherco 300 SEF Factory. Honestly, coming into this long-termer deal at the start of the year, I didnt really have any expectations, but I have been impressed with just about every aspect of the bike.

For 2024, Sherco updated the appearance of its range, adding a bunch of grey into the picture, and I am a fan of the new look. The new Shercos look and feel really aggressive and most importantly, they are comfy to ride. The feel of the 300 SEF especially is one of a bike that’s really compact, and I enjoyed riding it every time I threw a leg over it.

The 300 SEF received an all-new engine package for the 24 season, and it’s a standout feature for me. It’s super easy to ride, has great useable power and most importantly it’s a bagful of fun. The way the power is delivered gives me plenty of confidence to go out and just ride it as fast as I can, no matter what the conditions are.

There is definitely something to be said about bikes in the 300cc350cc class, and I really wish that other manufacturers would dive into this area of engine development. In the case of the 300 SEF, its fast enough to keep you on your toes, but it also wont bite you in the arse once you start getting tired.

The KYB suspension on the 300 SEF is an impressive bit of kit. I rarely played around with the factory settings, only firming it up once for some rough sand tracks. Overall, the stock KYB stuff is about as good as it gets for a wide range of tracks and conditions. I really like how light and nimble yet planted the bike feels; trail riding, sprint riding, motocross tracks and racing AORC events, I always had plenty of comfort on the bike and I had a smile on my face the entire time.

If you are looking for a do-it-all machine, I would highly recommend getting out and about on one of these Sherco 300 SEFs –  it is an impressive bike and I thoroughly enjoyed having it in my corner for the year. I must give a huge thanks to Sherco Australia and team manager Derek Grundy for their help and support throughout my time with the bike; it’s been a great experience having the backing of these guys.
