We recently put the YCF 12-inch electric balance bike to the test again – this time at the ProMX round at Appin, NSW – and, let’s just say, it saved the day.
The event was a scorcher, with temps pushing 30°C, and if you’ve ever tried dragging a three-year-old and a five-year-old around a national motocross event on foot, you’ll know how quickly little legs turn into whiny legs. Between the hills, the heat and the sheer size of the venue, walking was never going to cut it. So we loaded up the YCF 12-inch and brought it along for Bonnie to ride.
And she absolutely thrived. Riding beside the big rigs in the pits, Bonnie swerved between spectators, hopped off tree roots and made her way around the team trucks. People were stopping in their tracks, staring, like, “Who is this tiny human zipping around on an electric bike?”
The best part? The battery lasted the entire day. Six hours of slow cruising, pit exploring and shady tree-root jumping, and the YCF just kept going. No breakdowns, no power dips, no flat battery…
While the rest of us wilted in the sun, Bonnie was happy, mobile and entertained – still buzzing from riding around just metres from her motocross heroes.
These balance bikes are a legitimate tool for surviving big events with small kids, especially ones who want to feel like they’re part of the action.
