NIGHT of the JUMPs continued the spectacular Freestyle MX season in impressive fashion on April 25, 2026, in Munich. Following the season opener in Berlin on February 7, the series once again delivered pure adrenaline: eight of the world’s best freestyle motocross athletes, along with top riders from MTB, BMX, and scooter disciplines, thrilled the crowd with spectacular tricks in an electrifying competition. German FMX world champion Luc Ackermann won the second Grand Prix of the World Tour Championship at the Olympiahalle, raising anticipation for the third round of the tour on May 23 in Leipzig. In the show program, Marc Pinyol performed a 13-meter backflip off a scissor lift, setting a new world record.

From two qualification groups of four FMX riders each, the top two scorers advanced to the final. In 90 seconds, each rider had to perform eight tricks. Group 1 consisted of Mikołaj Tempka (POL), Leonardo Fini (ITA), Matej Cesak (CZE), and Spain’s Marc Pinyol. Tempka opened the competition with tricks such as Seatgrab Indy Flip and Cordova Flip, scoring 61.5 points. Leonardo Fini countered with a Hard Indy Backflip and Rowedowa Backflip, surpassing him with 65.50 points. Matej Cesak followed with the first frontflip combos, including a No-Hand and Nac Flip, taking the lead with 69.5 points. Marc Pinyol topped that performance with a Superman Frontflip, Triple Indy Flip, and Surfer Tsunami Flip (87.33 points), advancing to the final alongside Cesak.

In the second qualification group, Thuringian rider Hannes Ackermann started strong with a Porti Air Backflip and Airplane, but after a mistake on the Cliffhanger Flip, he only managed fourth place. Davide Rossi then delivered a stunning run featuring Deadbody, Tsunami Flip, and Nac Frontflip, earning 68.5 points. Luc Ackermann, who had missed the final in Berlin due to a crash and lost points in the Tour Championship standings, was determined to make up for it. With tricks like Tsunami Flip, Frontflip, 360, and Double Backflip 1-Hand, he scored 79.50 points and secured pole position for the final. 2010 world champion Libor Podmol fought for a final spot with a 1-Hand TP Flip and Supercan Flip but fell short behind Rossi.

In the final, Davide Rossi went first. He had to present eight tricks plus a Double Up. The Italian delivered a clean run with a balanced mix of backflips and frontflips, including Tsunami Flip, 1-Hand Nac, and Suicide Frontflip. He received 75.00 points and initially took the hot seat. Matej Cesak attempted to overtake him with a massive No-Hand Frontflip and Nac Frontflip but finished behind Rossi with 72.5 points. Marc Pinyol, who had narrowly missed victory in Berlin, aimed to win in Munich. He performed tricks including Indy to Indy Frontflip, Surfer Tsunami Flip, Superman Frontflip, Cordova Flip, Triple Indy Flip, and Cliffhanger Flip. While attempting to debut a Lazyboy Frontflip, he crashed but remounted and completed his run with a California Roll in the Double Up. Despite the mistake, his 76.00 points put him in the lead—until Luc Ackermann’s final run. Ackermann opened with a Double Backflip, followed by Tsunami Flip, No-Hand Frontflip, 360, Seatgrab Indy Flip, Holygrab, Clicker to Ruler Flip, Flatliner, and another Double Backflip 1-Hand. With 86.5 points, he secured the day’s victory in Munich. The comeback of the FMX “Terminator” was complete.

Marc Pinyol finished second and also set a new world record in the show program with his 13-meter scissor-lift backflip (his previous record was 12 meters).

Matej Cesak won the Best Whip Contest, outperforming Davide Rossi in the final duel.

In the MTB Best Trick contest, Alejandro Bonafé (ESP) won with a Cashroll Whip, ahead of Lucas Huppert (SUI) with a Frontflip Triple Barspin and Jimi Brandt (GER), who performed a Bike Frontflip.

In Eurotramp freestyle, athletes even performed quintuple somersaults.

With his victory in Munich, Luc Ackermann closed the gap to Marc Pinyol, who remains the leader of the World Tour Championship with 36 points thanks to his second-place finish. Davide Rossi sits in second with 30 points. Ackermann is tied for third place with Libor Podmol at 28 points each.

The third round of NIGHT of the JUMPs 2026 will take place on May 23 at the QUARTERBACK Immobilien ARENA in Leipzig. The freestyle motocross series will return to Munich on April 24, 2027.
