Fresh from KTM’s Dakar-winning rally program, the latest customer racer brings factory-spec hardware, long-range capability and serious off-road intent – but only a handful are headed our way
Rally and desert racing fans will again have a rare chance to get their hands on one of KTM’s closest links to the Dakar bivouac, with the 2027 KTM 450 Rally Replica confirmed for limited release in Australia.

Only a little over 100 examples will be produced worldwide, making this one of the most exclusive off-road models in KTM’s line-up. Aimed at privateer rally racers and experienced off-road riders chasing genuine long-distance competition hardware, the latest edition draws heavily from the Austrian brand’s factory race program – the same platform that has helped deliver repeated success at Dakar and in RallyGP.

For the past five years, this machine has stood as KTM’s most direct transfer of rally development from the race team to the public. Component design, chassis settings and performance upgrades have all been shaped by top-level competition, and the bike’s track record speaks for itself, having carried four different riders to Dakar victory since 2020.

At its core is a 450cc fuel-injected SOHC single paired with a six-speed gearbox, rally-specific ratios and a premium Brembo hydraulic clutch. A titanium Akrapovič exhaust helps save weight while sharpening performance.

The hydro-formed, laser-cut and hand-welded frame has been engineered to balance straight-line stability with the right amount of torsional flex, giving riders better feedback without sacrificing confidence at speed. That package is backed up by fully adjustable WP Pro suspension, tuned for the demands of rally competition.

KTM has loaded the bike with the sort of equipment expected of a serious desert racer. Dual radiators improve cooling efficiency and add a layer of protection should one side take damage in rough terrain. CNC-machined triple clamps with 23mm offset boost stiffness without adding unnecessary weight, while the aluminium tapered handlebar, rally-style grips and wider footpegs are all designed with long stages in mind.

Stopping power comes via Brembo brakes, while endurance is a major part of the package thanks to a three-tank fuel setup carrying 34.5 litres. Up front, a carbon-fibre navigation tower forms the centrepiece of the cockpit, designed to house a digital roadbook setup, intuitive controls and powerful LED lighting. The ergonomics and bodywork have also been tailored to strike a balance between rider comfort, weather protection and the freedom to move quickly when conditions turn technical.
