The 2026 Women’s Motocross Championship reached its halfway point at High Point Raceway with plenty of drama, as Australian riders featured heavily in a weekend that delivered breakthrough victories, crashes and a shake-up in momentum heading into the mid-season break.
Friday’s opening moto belonged to SLR Honda rookie Mayla Herrick, who celebrated her birthday in style by winning on her professional debut. In her first WMX gate drop, Herrick stunned the field to take a memorable race victory and immediately establish herself as a contender.
However, the fairytale weekend came undone on Saturday when Herrick’s second moto ended in disappointment with a DNF.
That left the spotlight on another all-Australian battle between reigning WMX champion Lachlan “Lala” Turner and Quad Lock Honda rider Charli Cannon.
Turner appeared on track to secure the moto victory and strengthen her championship position before a costly crash while leading handed the advantage to Cannon. The Queensland rider seized the opportunity and raced to her first WMX race win on American soil.
Cannon’s 5-1 scorecard earned her the overall victory for the round, while Turner recovered to secure second overall with 3-2 finishes.
Reigning FIM Women’s Motocross World Champion Lotte van Drunen completed the podium in third, claiming her first top-three result of the American season with consistent 2-4 finishes.
The result marks an important milestone for Cannon, who continues to build momentum in the highly competitive U.S. championship. The WMX Championship will now pause for its mid-season break before returning to action in August.
Meanwhile, the Pro Motocross Championship will also take a weekend off before resuming on July 4 at the iconic RedBud MX, where the traditional Independence Day RedBud National will host the next round of the 2026 SMX World Championship regular season.
